She brings this viewpoint to her classes with a focus on form through correct technique, body alignment and breathing. It is her aim to get people using their bodies to their highest functionality and leave class feeling great.

Since she began teaching in 2013, her interest in movement and the body has only deepened and she is now set to begin a Masters in Physiotherapy.

She is currently certified to teach Pilates in Matwork, Matwork with equipment, Reformer and has most recently become certified to teach pre and post-natal Pilates through Studio Pilates International.

Marie Giffi

Marie began dancing at the young age of 6yrs old and movement has always played a main role in her life.

Her first Pilates experience was back in 2004 when she signed up for a six-week beginners course. Marie was immediately drawn to the method because of its emphasis on ‘The balance of the mind and body ‘. As quoted in one of Joseph Pilates original books, Contrology (original name for Pilates) develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind, and elevates the spirit.

Following the caesarean birth of her daughter, Pilates helped Marie regain her core muscle strength and whole body flexibility. It also assisted with the mental and physical fatigue that came with being a new mum.

Since then, Marie’s passion for Pilates grew and it was a natural progression for her to become a matwork Pilates Instructor. Marie studied with Polestar Pilates and is a certified instructor.

Marie loves how Pilates is suitable for everybody, people of different ages, at different stages in life (including pre and post natal) and of various levels of fitness. She loves how the same set of principles and exercises can be modified for the absolute beginner/persons with injury or progressed suitably for someone of advanced movement capabilities.

Marie will help you achieve your goals in a supportive environment.

For students with no previous Pilates experience - all students welcome!
