Nikki Massaioli, Director

Nikki Massaioli is the founder and director of Yoga To Go, Centre of Health and Wellbeing, a multi-modality holistic yoga centre in Sydney that is dedicated to the pursuit of health, balance and transformation.

Her vision is simple but powerful: to share the transformative powers of yoga that she has experienced first hand.

Nikki began practicing yoga at nineteen. Now, nearly fifteen years later, her vitality and wellness she attributes largely to her dedicated daily yoga practice.

“Yoga is the most profound tool for growth, healing and self-transformation,” she says. “The practice creates space, freedom, courage and tenacity within.”

Prior to starting Yoga to Go in 2002, Nikki studied with senior teachers in Australia, completed the Yoga Arts Teacher Training, and she has since gained certification in the Iyengar Yoga Tradition, she is a Intoductory Level II certified Iyengar Yoga teacher

As well as teaching at her flourishing centre in Petersham, Nikki leads local and international retreats, workshops and intensives. Her teaching style is equal parts dynamic and nurturing, passionate and caring. “The best thing about teaching is sharing the gifts of Yoga” she says.

Nikki is a devoted mother of two and when not teaching or practicing yoga she loves to let loose on the living room dancefloor with her two young children.

tamar kelly

Tamar Kelly’s background is in the performing arts, both as an actress and a dancer. While having practiced yoga since 1990, she came seriously to yoga eleven years ago, after sustaining a neck injury while dancing. Initially using yoga to assist the treatment of the injury, she soon discovered the expansive nature of yoga and how it could truly enrich all aspects of her life.

Tamar completed a nine-month full -time training with Yoga Arts Byron Bay in 2000, and then embarked on an additional six-year apprenticeship under senior Iyengar teacher, Glenn Ceresoli. Tamar is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher, recognised by both the Australian and US Iyengar associations.

Tamar was the principal teacher at Yoga Warehouse in Sydney for three years before joining Nikki and the Yoga To Go team in January 2004. Teaching with Nikki at Yoga To Go for three years gave the two an opportunity to develop a synergy of teaching and a strong friendship, which is carried on the Yoga to Go retreats. Tamar now lives in New York with her husband, where she continues to practice and teach.

John Doucas

John Doucas has been an Iyengar yoga practitioner since embarking on his yoga journey in1996 in Melbourne. He moved to Byron Bay to continue his yoga studies while working as a massage therapist for six years. John now lives in Sydney and continues his passion towards the practice, learning, growing and teaching of yoga.

He hopes to inspire students by providing a supportive class environment and encouraging students to enjoy yoga and its wonderful benefits. John is a
Intoductory Level II certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and has been to Pune India training at the Iyengar Yoga Institute

Narelle Madden

Narelle, a hairdresser by trade, discovered yoga at a young age. After completing her hairdressing apprenticeship, Narelle moved to the Blue Mountains where she started attending the classes of Lulu Bull and Allan Goode.

This reignited her passion for yoga and she made the decision to further her practice to become a teacher. Under Lulu’s and Allan’s guidance Narelle gained incredible experience that was life changing physically, emotionally and spiritually. She said “it was the essence I had been seeking”. Narelle now shares this with the students she teaches. She is a Intoductory Level II certified Iyengar Yoga teacher

Sarah Bourne

Sarah Bourne first practiced yoga 14 years ago, when she had her first child, and attended pre and post-natal classes. With a child and work, life became busy, so she only dabbled in Yoga for the next few years. Sarah attended a casual class at Yoga to Go, and her passion for yoga was re-ignited. She quickly established a daily practice, and is now training under the guidance of certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher Alan Goode, one of the most senior yoga teacher trainers in Australia.

Sarah is a mother of three and runs her own Counselling practice. Yoga gives her the balance that she needs to juggle the demands and joys of a busy life. In her teaching she aims to provide students with the space not only to enhance their overall sense of physical wellbeing, but also to reflect and discover what it is that they need in order to reach their fullest potential, whatever that may be, both on and off the mat.
