Online Classes Explained

What You Will Need

  • A reliable internet service.

  • A device with a large screen with an inbuilt camera and microphone (i.e. a laptop or tablet). Zoom advises that whilst phones work, joining online ‘meetings’ (i.e. classes) using a phone may be problematic due to the huge surge in online activity by many industries and workplaces.

  • Yoga Props. This is not the full kit that we use at the studio but at the very minimum you will need:

A mat, 2 blankets, 2 blocks and 1 belt.

Feel free to improvise with household items (i.e. other blankets and cushions etc.) We will start teaching classes with minimum props to accommodate those who do not have a full prop kit.

We do have a limited supply of props for sale in the studio, please reach out to us via email info@yogatogo.com.au to arrange payment and pick up times.

  • A clear space to practice free of clutter – consider this an opportunity to tidy up or rearrange the furniture! If you have a spare unfurnished wall and a door frame nearby that would also be good.

By joining YTGS online class it is essential that you retain full responsibility for your own physical and general well-being in applying instructions in classes to your own circumstances and levels of ability.

Consult your doctor if you have any preexisting medical conditions or contact us via email info@yogatogo.com.au to discuss your particular situation to ensure that the practice is suitable for you.

What You Need To Do

  • Log in to your student account or create a new student account using the sign-up button.

  • If your account has been credited or you are joining a FREE class, you will NOT need to make a payment.

  • If your account does not have sufficient credit you will be required to purchase a 10-class pass (CP) or casual class session (10CP - $160 or $20 per class session, seniors classes 10CP - $110 or $15 per session) no further discounts apply.

  • Enrol in the class or classes you are planning to attend.

  • You must enrol in the class at least 1 hour before the class is scheduled to begin, any cancellations made after the 1 hour cut off time will result in forfeiting of the class.

  • Download the Zoom app on the device you will be using and create a Zoom account. You do not need to purchase any Zoom plans. Zoom is already paid for by the host, which is Yoga To Go Studio (YTGS)

Please use your first and last name as your Zoom name, so that teachers can easily see who is dialing in, especially if your video is not activated.

  • YTGS will email you the Zoom link to join your online class 15 minutes before the commencement of class

To join your class, you can either:

click on the URL link in the email we will send you, which will take you directly to the Zoom online class.

or

Open the Zoom app, click ‘Join Meeting’ and enter the Meeting ID number. The Meeting ID number will be in the email we sent you.

You will be given options to test your microphone and speaker. Go to the ‘meeting’. You will be allowed into a ‘waiting room’ where you wait for the meeting to start.

  • Zoom has a number of helpful tutorials to help you get started, if you are not familiar with Zoom we recommend checking them out HERE

  • Please do not copy or record our classes. We ask you to respect out intellectual property rights and not record our classes in any way.

Initially we may record classes for the purpose educating ourselves on how we can better utilise the online functions and work with students in this capacity.  In the event that classes are being recorded from our end we will advise all participants prior to the commencement of class.

Online Class Etiquette

  • Mute / Unmute – YTGS will commence the classes with the participants ‘Unmuted’ – this means that you can talk to us and ask questions at the beginning of class.  Please minimise background noise in your practice space during class. Once we get started you will be required to ‘Mute’ yourself to further minimise background noise. If, during class, you need to ask a question, you can ‘Unmute’ yourself and then ‘Mute’ yourself again once your question has been answered.

  • Please be patient – We are all navigating new territory and trying the best we can to ensure that you can still do quality yoga during this time. Initially, there may be glitches. The internet service might drop out, Zoom might crash if overloaded or the teacher might even push the wrong button!!! If the class drops out, just wait, check your emails and we will try and get it up and running again.

Timetable

  • We have made changes to our regular timetable and will be reviewing all classes on a weekly basis

After the first few week of online streaming, we may change the timetable depending on how many students attend online classes and the feedback we receive.

Please check the timetable on our website regularly for any possible changes.  If you have pre-registered for a class and changes are made, we will notify you directly.
